The Oriental Band has been a unit of Kora Shriners since 1956. Its function is to assist in the ritual of Kora Shriners, perform at ceremonials and participate in parades at the request of the Potentate.
Current membership in the Oriental Band is 12 with no set upper limit. While it is helpful if the applicant can play a musical instrument and read music, this is not essential since instruction is available in the unit.
Musical instruments and uniforms are supplied by the unit. Dues are $20.00 per year.
Rehearsals are held at the Temple when called by the Director and the unit participates in 10-12 functions per year. A good attendance record is required.
Applications may be obtained from the Director, Officers or members. Membership classifications are active, probationary and inactive.
