Our Famous Murals

The Fall of Mecca

The Fall of Mecca

The afore mentioned eight years have passed. In this mural we see a Berber family mourning the death of their eldest son and brother. Berbers were an original, early Christian sect who dwelt in Mecca.

Mahomet has attacked with his army of ten thousand men and has retaken Mecca.

Khalid is a defender of Mecca in this attack. He even deals Mahomet a wound, the scars of which he will bear till his death. We will see in later stories how Khalid becomes a noted General for Mahomet. How he wins for himself the title "Sword of Islam". Also being called by Mahomet "Sword of God".

In this picture we see the elderly father weeping for his eldest son who has been slain in the defense of his home. At the foot of the bier kneels the warrior's bereaved widow.

We see the younger son pointing to a vision, in the smoke of the brazier, depicting the fact that God is still with them. He is exhorting his father not to give up hope.

As the vision of faith lifts their spirits, the crescent and star reminds them that they are surrounded by the forces of Islam.
