The Wooing of Ishmael

The Wooing of Ishmael

Ishmael returns to Egypt, the land of his mother, to seek a wife. No easy task to find a woman who would leave the comforts of her home and seek hardships of the desert.

Records show he found such a girl in the land of Egypt. Nowhere in any record have I found the name of this courageous woman! That she and Ishmael were progenitors of the Arabic race followed.

From this union sprang the twelve tribes of the desert. Whence originated the term "Ishmaelites".

Ishmael was a warrior noted for his prowess with the short bow of the dessert. His people grew tough and dark under the dessert sun. The Scimitar, their sharp, flexible curved sword, was feared wherever it was used.

Ishmael and Isaac, brothers in name only, would always meet on this bloody field of battle. One exception only was at the funeral of their father, Abraham. They met this once, quietly, at the town of Hebron. After the service they resumed their warlike ways. The Scimitar and the Star of David would never meet in peace.
