The Laying of the Kaaba Stone

The Laying of the Kaaba Stone

Ishmael and his father Abraham are shown laying the corner stone for the famous Temple of Kaaba.

Abraham has been commanded by God to erect a Temple to give thanks for the preservation of his first born.

Ishmael is instructed to supply the material for this edifice and he and his father will commence the labor.

The location of this tribute to God is at the site of the Mystical Well in the desert. At the time, Ishmael and his mother were saved, this was Arid Desert. The Moslem Holy City of Mecca was built on this site and it only followed that Kaaba Temple must be there also.

Any worshipper traveling to Mecca must visit the Temple. He or she must kiss the "Black Stone of Mecca", which is set at the base of the east wall. Also, at least once in their lifetime they must drink from the sacred well.

Kaaba Temple is built in the shape of a cube. Each side measuring forty feet. Over the centuries it has been destroyed by floods and earthquakes. It has always been faithfully restored to its original beauty.
