Potentate's Biography
Born February 21, 1958 to Donald and Janice Nason, grew up in Downtown Leeds with his parents and three younger sisters,
Jane, Jill and Jody.
Attended Leavitt Area High School, graduating in 1976.
In 1976, Tom applied and was accepted into Local Union 1253, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Apprenticeship Program.
In 1977, Tom was elected to SAD 52 School Board and served a three year term.
Always seeking new adventures, after 3 years Tom applied and was accepted to the University of Maine at Orono in the Electrical Engineering Program. At the University of Maine, Orono, Tom joined the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
Tom went back into construction in 1980 and in 1986, joined his father Don to form Nason Electric.
In 1992 Tom became President and operated the business until 2002 when greater opportunities arose and he accepted a position as Project Manager/Estimator with E S Boulos Company in Westbrook. Tom is currently a Project Manager, overseeing electrical projects covering the entire State of Maine.
Tom’s Masonic career began in Asylum Lodge, Wayne, Maine where he was raised a Master Mason on December 10, 1980. Tom belongs to both the Scottish and York Rite bodies. In June of 1982, Tom joined Kora Temple at Kents Hill during Ill. Potentate Tieche Shelton’s Summer Ceremonial. Tom joined the Kora Highlanders in 1983 and held many positions including Secretary, Treasurer, President and Scribe. His proudest accomplishment was that of becoming Pipe Sargent, a position he held until being appointed to the Divan in 1998 by Ill. Paul Sherman. Tom is a past president of the Androscoggin County Shrine Club and is a member of every Shrine Club in Kora. While on the Divan, Tom has chaired each event in Kora and has also served as Membership Chair and is currently in his eighth year as co-Editor of the Kora Sands. Tom is a member & officer of Put Stevens Court 107, Royal Order of Jesters.
Tom resides in Turner with his best friend and wife, Judy. Tom and Judy’s family consists of Sydney, their Golden Retriever who suffers from SDS or Spoiled Dog Syndrome and their three cats Lizabeth, Sammy and Theo.
