POLAND
- Music by MAGIC will present a program of varied vocal and
instrumental music from the 1930s to the '80s Monday, July 16, at All
Souls Chapel, as part of the Poland Spring Preservation Society's
Summer Concert Series. Members of the group are Conrad Soucy, Joanne
Fuller, Roland M. Roy and Diane J. Biron.
A born-again former
rock star, who gave up playing to spend more time with his family,
Soucy is back after a 20-year hiatus. Recently, he played for the
Fanfare Concert Band, for several Kora Shrine bands, for the
Windjammers Circus Music Band, the 60s Plus Band, the Music Makers Big
Band, and is now percussionist for Music by MAGIC.
Fuller first
sang in a folk/folk rock group known as Chord Majority. Between 1970
and 1980, she performed with such professional groups as Vehicle, The
Flairs, Voyage, and Traces. She stopped singing professionally in 1981
so she could spend more time with her family and is now returning to
her singing career.
Roy and Biron are no strangers to MAGIC or
the Poland Spring Preservation Society. As co-founders and directors of
the MAGIC Pops Chorus and later MAGIC & Company, they have
entertained audiences in the Lewiston-Auburn area and in Poland during
the 1990s and later. |
