VFW Post 3335 Auxiliary officers present Emily Ouellette with beverage tabs for Shrine hospitals. JAY - Members of VFW Post 3335 Auxiliary presented 9-year-old Emily Ouellette with several containers of aluminum pull-tabs from beverage cans on July 4. The post canteen saves the tabs so they can be donated to worthy causes. Emily and her family will turn them in to Kora Temple Shrine in Lewiston to benefit the Shrine hospitals.

The tabs go to a recycling company and the money received is used to buy medical and non-medical items for Shrine hospital patients.

The Shriners operate 18 hospitals throughout North America for children with orthopedic problems, spinal cord injuries and burns. The hospitals are open to all children up to their 18th birthday. All medical treatment is without cost to the patient and their family.

Emily is the daughter of Stephen and Catherine Ouellette of Livermore and continues to receive care at the Shrine Hospital in Springfield, Mass.
