Mark Whitmore, Kora Divan Director/Membership Chairman
As we start the New Year, the Kora Divan has been busy getting around to the various clubs and units, performing Officer Installations and enjoying Potentates receptions. We attended Anah Temple’s installation in Bangor for a weekend, where we were very well received and were treated very well.
January is a very busy month for the Divan, but most enjoyable. I am very happy to report that at all of the events we have attended, the number of Nobles attending was up nicely. I also want to report that 2014 dues are flowing into the Temple office at a good pace. All of us work too hard at Membership to end up suspending so many nobles at the end of the year for nonpayment of dues. I want to point out, that when I say all of us, I mean it. It takes every Noble talking to friends back at our Blue Lodges and asking them to join. But that is only part one of the job, we all need to make new members and their significant others feel welcome. It’s not always easy to walk up to someone we don’t know, and strike up a conversation. It’s one of those jobs that gets easier with a little practice, so please help whenever the need arises. I will be the first to admit that the Membership Chairman’s position is one that I will need everyone’s help with. Illustrious Dan Gove and Lady Nancy are very committed to see our membership ranks grow, and together we are tossing ideas around on how to bring our new Nobles and their Ladies into our Shrine Family.
Please keep up the good work, and note that March 29th will be our Spring Ceremonial, which is the next time to join Kora Shine. Please help spread the word back at our Blue Lodges and I look forward to meeting our new members.
