Mission
The KORA KLOWNS started as a part of the Second Section in 1968/ 69 and became an official Unit in February, 1970. It’s mission is to:
- Entertain children of all ages.
- Promoting favorable for Kora Temple and Shrinedom in general.
- Promoting fun and entertainment.
- Supporting the philanthropy of Shrinedom.
- Assist in the conduct of Temple affairs, ceremonials, etc. as requested by the Potentate.
Membership
Membership categories are Apprentice, Active, Associate and Life. All new members spend their first year as an APPRENTICE (probationary) Klown. Apprentice Klowns must attend the Northeast Clown Institute’s KLOWN COLLEGE during their first year. Klown College is held the 3rd weekend in January at Plymouth, MA. The Unit pays your tuition but you are responsible for your room. At the end of your year the Unit will make a final vote to accept you as an ACTIVE Klown or release you from the Unit.
ACTIVE Klowns are Nobles of Kora Temple who are in good standing and who have completed an apprenticeship program. Active Klowns are expected to attend at least 85 hours a year in functions approved by the Unit or Temple. [a minimum of 5 hours will be allowed for any approved function].
Any Active Klown who has completed at least 6 years and 1,000 hours in costume, or 10 years in costume is eligible for ASSOCIATE Klown status.
Uniform and Dues
Each member must purchase his own costume which may vary in cost from $50.00 to several hundred dollars depending on your type of clown and how elaborate you wish to get.
Dues are set at the annual meeting each year and are currently $35.00 a year. The majority of which goes to pay your dues to ISCA and NESCA.

Applications can be picked up at the Klown Room during any Temple function or by contacting any Kora Klown.
