What is the Membership Committee?

  1. Recruitment: We must start bringing in more new Nobles if we expect to survive into the future.
  2. Retention: As important as bringing in new Nobles, and perhaps even more so, we must develop programs, and organize events and functions, that make continuing to be a member of Kora Temple worthwhile and desirable, not only for new members, but for current members as well.
  3. Restoration: We will reach out to former Nobles to attempt to find out why they left and what can we do to get them back as active and involved Nobles.
  4. Mentoring Program: We have to get serious about this and put together a strong program that will assure that new Nobles are not just left to fend for themselves, but have Mentors to turn to for support and advice during their first year as Nobles to get them active and involved as members as soon as possible.
  5. Masonic Relations: The Membership program should have a sub-committee to work with the Grand Lodge and other Masonic bodies on programs of common interest and benefit to us all.

Plus One!

The Membership Committee has kicked off a campaign to put KORA in a special position in all of Shrine. With the enthusiastic support of Illustrious Sir Tom Nason and the entire Divan, the committee has set a goal for 2007 of being in the elite group of Shrine temples who have a POSITIVE growth.

The PLUS ONE program kicked off with the Annual Meeting and has in just two very short weeks, begun to sprout the success that we expected. When Illustrious Sir Tom asked at a Shrine Club meeting, "Do you have your five?" he set in motion a search for prospective Shriners that has now developed momentum and won't be stopped. PLUS ONE is a goal for all of KORA Shrine that says that we want to beat the Black Camel, suspensions and demits, if only by a single new Noble, giving KORA a year of positive growth.

"Do you have your five?" does not mean that everyone has five candidates coming on board, although that idea is wonderful to contemplat, but it does mean that five prospect names have been given to the Membership Committee, and five contacts with the prospects have been initiated.

If only 250 Nobles of KORA Shrine initiate contact, and the contact is followed up by the Membership Committee, there will be 1000 people invited to become Shriners in the next two to three months. We have realized the power of numbers and of the 1000 prospect we will be in the awesome position of having a class of candidates at the 2007 Summer Ceremonial that will rival those in our past that are spoken of with quiet reverence for their sheer size!

We have tried looking back into our glory days, and they were glorious, but now we have a dream, and in looking to the future with that dream, will make our dream become a reality.
