Mission

The purpose of the KORA SHRINE MOPED UNIT is to provide members an opportunity to become proficient in motorized drill formation and maneuvers within a uniformed unit of Kora Temple. Additionally, upon direction of the elected Potentate, participate in designated Kora Shrine events as well as promoting loyalty, brother-hood and Shrindom through drill or parade the enjoyment of the Nobility. The Kora Shrine Moped Unit shall also promote Kora Shrine Temple through participation in public function.

Brewster Doan and his wife Pauline a few years back traveled to Bermuda on vacation. During the time on the island they rode on mopeds for transportation. He liked riding them so much he came back and convinced a few of his friends to put together a shrine unit. For over 25 years plus years there has been a Moped Unit for the Kora Temple.

Membership

To become a member you have to apply and pay a small application fee that includes your first years dues, these fees will be returned if you are not voted on in. Next, you have to show you are physically capable of operating a moped safely, later you have to purchase your outfit (Shirt, shoes, pants, etc.) a little practice and you’re a member of the Mopeds. We presently have 14 members. Looking for 10 more. To become a member or if you desire more information, please call or email any of the officers listed above.

Uniform and Dues

All Active and Associate Members shall be required to pay annual dues of Ten Dollars ($10.00) each, prior to January 1st of each year to remain a member in good standing. We may ask for a little money in the begging to help defray the cost of the new moped, an exact figure has not been decided on as of this writing.

Attendance

We try to perform in anywhere from 14 to 16 parades annually & presently during the summer we have four unit parties after various parades at different members homes, past and present Moped Unit members are invited to all of our events. We will be having a Christmas Party at Federal Jacks, in Kennebunkport like we have the past few years.
