Mission
The Royal Guards has been an active unit of the Temple since 1978. The purpose of the Royal Guards is to promote Kora Shriners, Shrinedom, the Masonic fraternity and good fellowship among its members. The Guards parade at authorized Temple functions and at other events approved by the Potentate. As a uniformed unit the Royal Guards provide proficient marching and appropriate fife and drum music.
Membership
The presently listed maximum strength of the Royal Guards is 30 with current membership at 26 (15 active and 11 honorary). Interest in marching and playing the fife or drum is required, instruction in these instruments being provided by the unit.
Uniform and Dues
Musical instruments and the distinctive uniforms of the Royal Guards are supplied by the unit. Annual dues are $20.00
Attendance
Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month in the fall and winter. There are no monthly meetings scheduled during parade season unless at the membership request. Meetings are held at the Director's home or other members home as requested. The unit participates in 8 to 10 functions per year. All functions are presented to and voted on by active unit members.
Application
Applications are available from the Director and Officers. The classes of membership are active and honorary.
Miscellaneous
The unit has at least 2 social gatherings during the year and the wives wear red windbreaker jackets with Kora Royal Guard patches at parades. The wives also contribute greatly in fund-raising activities.
