The Second Section has been a unit of Kora Shriners since 1891. Its function is to assist in the ritual work of the temple and to introduce novices to the Hot Sands through the Second Section of the Degree. It also takes part in parades and performs other services at the direction of the Potentate.

Membership

The current membership of the Second Section is thirty-three, the maximum strength, and there is a small waiting list of applicants. The classes of membership are Regular, Regular on Probation and Substitute and membership is by election. Membership is limited to those under 50 years of age, in good physical condition who are willing to work with other unit members and to attend all meetings, rehearsals and ceremonials.

Uniform and Dues

Uniforms are required for ceremonials and parades and are paid for in part by the member in the amount of $50.00. The appropriately lettered fez is supplied by the unit. Dues are $20.00 per year.

Attendance

There are 6 meetings and 4 ceremonials per year and about 7 other events and participation is mandatory unless excused by the Director.

Application

Application may be made through the Director or officers of the unit.
